Director, Business Development APAC

About the role

Abbott, a global healthcare company, is hiring a Director, Business Development APAC in Singapore. The role proactively researches, identifies and evaluates potential company, product and technology targets that fit Abbott's strategy and drive sustainable growth. It sits within the EPD Established Pharma division.

Key responsibilities

• Lead assessment and due diligence, including managing interactions with external parties, overseeing the evaluation process and timeline, and preparing recommendations and proposals for senior management
• Develop deal structures, risk mitigation and negotiation strategies aligned with company objectives
• Negotiate and close transactions, from IP rights agreements to complex acquisitions
• Manage external stakeholders such as CEOs and internal stakeholders such as senior management and C-suite executives, and prepare opportunity assessments for them
• Lead cross-functional support teams (marketing, R&D, clinical, regulatory, operations) through due diligence
• Lead alliance management for existing partnerships
• Present orally and in writing to senior management to seek approval for new opportunities
• Assess key markets, companies and technologies and act as subject matter expert for the supported business segments

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree; preference for Finance, Accounting or a technical discipline (e.g. Pharmaceutical Sciences) with an MBA
• 5+ years of M&A experience, including acquisitions, opportunity assessments, negotiations and closing deals
• 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, networking, negotiation and influencing skills

Required skills

• Strong understanding of product development, regulatory and commercialization processes for evaluating targets
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills to evaluate business opportunities
