Drug-Patent Relationship Specialist

About the role

PatSnap is looking for a Drug-Patent Relationship Specialist to join its Singapore office and help build high-quality intelligence linking pharmaceutical products with the patents that matter. The role is in-office and does not require a qualified patent attorney: it is an analytical investigation of complex scientific and patent information, combined with close work with the AI and data teams to turn expert judgement into scalable AI workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze drug-patent relationships and classify patents as core, recommended, low-confidence review or excluded.
• Investigate patent documentation in depth, including titles, abstracts, claims, descriptions, patent families and applicants.
• Evaluate how patents relate to drugs, chemical structures, biological targets, indications and mechanisms.
• Document evidence, sources, relationship types, confidence levels and reasons for review or exclusion.
• Help define the drug-patent relationship framework, including relationship schemas, recommendation tiers, exclusion rules and quality standards.
• Work with the AI Native Data Engineer to turn expert judgement into prompts, quality-assurance rules and libraries of representative errors and edge cases.
• Use AI in the workflow to improve consistency, repeatability and throughput, and continuously improve quality by spotting recurring error patterns.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience with patent data, pharmaceutical patents, life sciences intelligence, pharmaceutical data, IP content analysis or a closely related area.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting English-language patent materials (titles, abstracts, claims, descriptions, families, applicants).
• Knowledge or experience in pharmaceuticals, chemistry, biology, patent information or life sciences intelligence.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to document evidence and reasoning clearly.
• Comfortable using AI tools and collaborating with technical colleagues on prompts and QA processes.
