Engineering Intern - Equipment & Process Engineering

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring an Engineering Intern in Singapore. The intern works alongside the equipment and process engineering teams to analyse, simulate or physically test hardware modifications aimed at improving thermal uniformity, optimising gas flow dynamics and enhancing the mechanical reliability of deposition systems, and optimising fluid dynamics and gas delivery hardware for CVD process chambers.

Key responsibilities

• Design or modify basic mechanical engineering layouts, schematics or drawings/specifications under direct supervision.
• Coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems.
• Perform and document engineering test reports and generate alpha/gamma documentation for product releases.
• Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot a variety of mechanical problems of general difficulty under direct supervision.
• Help design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes.
• Support the handling, assembly and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.

Required profile

• Student or intern (full-time).
• Interest in mechanical engineering and semiconductor equipment.

Required skills

• Structural, thermal and fluid dynamics core knowledge.
• Hardware design and prototyping.
• Mechanical testing, data collection and analysis.
• Vacuum system maintenance and calibration.
• Semiconductor tool architecture (optional).
