Finance Analyst - Semiconductor R&D

About the role

Applied Materials is looking for a highly motivated, results-driven finance analyst to join its SPG Asia finance team in Singapore. The role collaborates with Lab Operations teams across several labs in Singapore and with BU leaders, finance and operations partners, and works independently to support growing lab operations and regional investments as a key business partner.

Key responsibilities

• Own day-to-day Opex, Capex and spend management and reporting for Singapore Lab Operations, and lead quarter spending and budget management with SG Labs and BU stakeholders
• Perform variance analysis, explain forecast-to-actual changes, and identify emerging risks and opportunities
• Support ROI models for key R&D programs and quarterly updates of R&D program business cases
• Partner with Finance and BU to implement Anaplan, SAP BPC, Tableau reporting and Project Resource Management (PRM)
• Develop grant sizing forecasts, track grant utilization, support grant submissions and claims, and support quarterly grant reviews
• Consolidate financials for SG Labs' P&L forecasting, build dashboards and reporting tools, and own monthly and quarterly close activities including journal entries, accruals and variance reporting
• Partner with Operations, Accounting and COE teams to deliver accurate, timely financial outcomes and hold the operations team accountable for lab spending and utilization

Required profile

• 5 to 7 years of experience in FP&A, business or operations finance preferred
• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance
• Experience in the semiconductor R&D sector preferred
• Strong communication, financial analysis and stakeholder partnership skills, and ability to influence decisions across functions and management levels
• Self-starter who can maintain financial cycle deliverables with limited management oversight

Required skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Data analysis tools such as Power BI and SQL are a plus
• Systems capabilities, preferably with Anaplan, SAP, Tableau, Power BI and PRM
