General Manager – Technical

About the role

The General Manager – Technical will lead the Technical Department, overseeing Diesel, In‑situ, Fuel and Internal Support teams. Reporting to the Managing Director, this senior leader is responsible for driving operational excellence, profitability and compliance across all technical functions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the entire Technical Department, ensuring day‑to‑day operations run smoothly.
• Achieve budget targets and overall profit & loss objectives.
• Formulate and monitor strategic objectives, action plans and KPI frameworks.
• Design and deliver training programmes to raise technical competence and commercial knowledge.
• Identify and develop successors within the department.
• Conduct monthly performance meetings and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure strict compliance with ISO, OHS, risk‑management and future environmental standards.
• Oversee work‑scope planning, resource allocation, tool requirements and scheduling.
• Control job costs, invoicing and commercial matters through ERP systems.
• Perform on‑site inspections, provide technical advice to customers and review solution models.
• Collaborate openly with other Goltens business units.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine or manufacturing industry.
• Proven track record managing technical teams and departmental budgets.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
