Hospital Pharmacist

About the role

NHG is hiring a Pharmacist. The role covers clinical review of prescriptions, accurate dispensing, supervision of subordinates and compliance with legal requirements on the sale and supply of medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Review each patient's medication chart or prescription for appropriateness, contacting the prescribing doctor when intervention is needed, and ensure doses are within therapeutic limits and potential adverse reactions and interactions are identified.
• Fulfil all drug orders accurately and in a timely manner, and ensure costs and revenue are accounted for and recovered.
• Dispense medications to patients, explaining indications and administration instructions, and provide drug information and lectures to other healthcare professionals.
• Delegate, oversee and review the work of assigned subordinates, supervise their performance, conduct appraisals, write reports and recommend confirmations, promotions and training needs.
• Ensure sales and supply of medicinal products comply with legal requirements and maintain records of receipt, supply, storage and distribution.
• Represent the department in clinical committees, review pharmacy procedures and policies and improve workflow.
• Train pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacy students, and take part in hospital activities such as QC, community projects and staff welfare.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university recognised by the Singapore Pharmacy Council.
• Registered with the Singapore Pharmacy Council and holding a valid practicing licence.
