Hotel Facilities Technician

About the role

The Facilities Technician ensures the hotel’s facilities, equipment and building systems operate safely, reliably and efficiently. This role covers preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and installations across guest rooms, public areas, kitchens and back‑of‑house spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out fault repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, lighting and kitchen appliances.
• Inspect and maintain mechanical rooms, equipment and fire‑life‑safety (FLS) systems, identifying potential failures and taking corrective action.
• Respond promptly to work orders, document completed tasks and update engineering logbooks.
• Manage spare‑part inventory, ensuring stock levels are adequate and movements are accurately recorded.
• Supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality requirements and agreed scopes of work.
• Minimise guest disruption during maintenance activities while maintaining a high level of guest service.

Required profile

• Certificate, NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or Facilities Management.
• Previous experience in hotel engineering, building maintenance or facilities management is preferred.
• Ability to work physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending and lifting, and to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to respond to urgent maintenance situations and to follow health‑and‑safety procedures.
