Hotel Wine Sommelier – Luxury Hospitality

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Hotel Wine Sommelier to join our luxury hospitality team at Shangri‑La Singapore. You will be responsible for curating an exceptional wine programme that enhances the guest experience across our dining venues.

Key responsibilities

• Curate, maintain and continuously improve the hotel’s wine list.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and food‑pairing advice to guests.
• Deliver wine service that meets luxury hospitality standards.
• Collaborate with restaurant managers, chefs and culinary teams to develop pairing programmes.
• Monitor inventory, oversee stock rotation and ensure proper storage conditions.
• Source new wines, negotiate purchases with suppliers and distributors.
• Organise wine tastings, promotions and educational events for guests and staff.
• Train and mentor service colleagues on wine knowledge and service techniques.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, food‑safety and responsible alcohol service regulations.
• Analyse wine sales performance and propose strategies to increase revenue and guest satisfaction.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as a Sommelier or in a luxury food‑and‑beverage environment.
• Professional wine certification (e.g., WSET, Certified Sommelier) preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of wine regions, grape varieties, vintages and food‑pairing principles.
• Strong understanding of wine cellar management, inventory control and beverage cost management.
• Excellent guest engagement and communication skills with a passion for service.
• Ability to conduct training sessions and share knowledge effectively.
• Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and special events.
