HVAC Assistant Project Manager

About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, building systems, energy efficiency and decarbonization, is hiring an HVAC Assistant Project Manager. You will support HVAC projects across commercial, institutional and industrial environments, working closely with clients, contractors and specialist consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Meet clients, establish their requirements and produce, review and implement documentation such as pre-construction information, schedules of work, specifications, schematics and drawings for tender.
• Manage a portfolio of approved mechanical and electrical contractors through the project lifecycle, including cost procurement, analysis, appraisal and budgeting.
• Agree programmes with clients and contractors, update them as needed and ensure key deadlines are met.
• Ensure M&E services are installed correctly to specification, monitor working practices, manage contractors and report non-compliance to the line manager.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and fire regulations, ACOPs and company policies, and collect certifications, correspondence, drawings and financial records.
• Provide technical support to other internal departments, analyse projects, report progress to management and prepare pre-job meetings, agendas and minutes.
• Determine job pricing, read the scope of work, identify when change orders are needed, and understand closeout, contract term and the contract amendment/change order process.

Required profile

• Minimum B.Sc./B.Eng. in Electrical, Power, Mechanical or a related field.
• At least 10 years of extensive experience in HVAC retrofit, design and cost management as an HVAC Project Manager or similar role in commercial, institutional and industrial settings.
• Profound knowledge of chiller plant optimization.
• Experience managing large commercial, institutional and industrial projects of $20 million and above preferred.
• Estimating experience and knowledge of site surveying, project sequencing, methods and materials, and electrical systems.
