Hydraulic Design Engineer for Marine and Offshore Winch and Crane

About the role

We are seeking a specialized Hydraulic Design Engineer to lead the design, schematic development, and component sizing of hydraulic systems for heavy‑duty marine and offshore winches and cranes. You will translate mechanical requirements into reliable fluid‑power solutions capable of withstanding extreme offshore conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Design complex open‑loop and closed‑loop hydraulic systems for offshore cranes, anchor handling winches, mooring winches, traction winches, and subsea lifting equipment.
• Select and size pumps, motors, proportional valves, manifolds, cylinders, accumulators, and filtration units while ensuring compliance with DNV, ABS, API, ISO, and CETOP standards.
• Create detailed P&ID and hydraulic schematics using Automation Studio, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/CAE tools.
• Perform hydraulic calculations such as pressure drop, flow rate, heat dissipation, line sizing, and response‑time analysis.
• Collaborate with electrical and automation teams to integrate electro‑hydraulic control systems, PLC interfaces, and safety circuits.
• Develop testing procedures for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of hydraulic power units and winch/crane assemblies.
• Provide technical support during prototype assembly, commissioning, and load‑testing phases, and work with procurement to evaluate vendor specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Fluid Power Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–7 years of hands‑on hydraulic system design experience in marine, offshore, or heavy‑industrial machinery.
• Proven experience with high‑pressure circuits up to 350 bar and custom manifold blocks.
• Strong understanding of marine environmental challenges such as corrosion resistance, subsea integration, fluid cleanliness, and low‑temperature operation.
