Infrastructure Engineer (VMware & Windows Server)

About the role

Sopra Steria, a European technology group with its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, is hiring an Infrastructure Engineer (VMware & Windows Server) to support a client in the aerospace, aviation and defence industry. The engineer will lead server hosting obsolescence projects, including migrating at least 250 virtual machines to new infrastructure and supporting a regional upgrade of Windows Server to Windows Server 2025.

Key responsibilities

• Support and execute APAC-wide server hosting infrastructure obsolescence and technology refresh projects.
• Plan, coordinate and execute the migration of at least 250 VMs, including assessment, planning, validation and post-migration support.
• Manage VMware environments: provisioning, configuration, resource allocation, performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Support the Windows Server 2025 upgrade, including planning, compatibility checks, deployment, testing and validation.
• Perform Windows Server administration, configuration, patching and maintenance.
• Provide technical support for SQL Server environments and resolve complex incidents with root cause analysis.
• Work with regional IT teams, application owners, project stakeholders and external vendors, and coordinate changes and migrations across APAC.
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with enterprise IT standards and security policies.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure, server administration, system engineering or enterprise hosting.
• Proven experience in enterprise server migration and infrastructure refresh projects, preferably involving 250+ VMs.
• Experience in regional or multi-country IT environments is an advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced hands-on knowledge of VMware vSphere and ESXi.
• Strong expertise in Windows Server administration, configuration, troubleshooting and upgrades.
• Good knowledge of SQL Server installation, configuration and administration.
• Understanding of ITIL processes, change management, incident management and project delivery.
