Japanese Speaking Risk Officer (Credit Risk & KYC)

About the role

A risk professional is sought to monitor credit and compliance risks, strengthen governance and support sound risk management decisions. The role covers credit portfolio monitoring, KYC and customer due diligence, and liaison with Japanese-speaking clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the branch's credit portfolio and identify emerging risks and concentration exposures.
• Conduct portfolio analysis and prepare periodic credit risk reports for management.
• Perform annual reviews, credit grading assessments and covenant monitoring.
• Manage covenant compliance, waiver requests and breach follow-up.
• Support the administration and monitoring of project finance and lending transactions.
• Run stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio resilience.
• Review KYC and customer due diligence documentation using a risk-based approach, and identify potential AML/CFT concerns.
• Support customer onboarding and periodic KYC reviews, and prepare risk management reports for management, Head Office and regulators.
• Act as secretary to the Credit Risk Committee, coordinate information requests with Head Office and maintain portfolio monitoring tools and risk metrics.
• Support audits, process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects.

Required profile

• 2-5 years of experience in banking, financial services, risk management, credit analysis, KYC/AML, audit or related fields.
• Basic understanding of corporate lending, credit risk management and financial statement analysis.
• Proficiency in Japanese, with a stronger emphasis on reading and writing for reviewing and preparing Japanese documents and reports.
• Experience in portfolio monitoring, risk analysis, covenant management or customer due diligence is advantageous.
