Java Developer – Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer on a contract basis to act as the domain knowledge custodian for our existing applications. You will provide technical guidance, ensure architectural consistency, and support both on‑premises and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain deep knowledge of legacy applications, including system architecture, business logic, and design decisions.
• Design, develop, and test software using waterfall or Agile methodologies.
• Investigate and resolve issues by writing scripts and SQL queries.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Quality Engineers to refine requirements, automate tests, and fix bugs.
• Provide effort estimates for user stories and work items.
• Work with DevOps teams to set up CI/CD pipelines, continuous integration, and automated releases.
• Create functional specifications, system design documents, and automated unit tests.
• Support production incidents, BAU activities, and application deployments in cloud or on‑premises environments.
• Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Coder) and automation to improve code quality and development workflows.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with Java, Spring, REST APIs, UNIX scripting, JavaScript, IBM WAS, and JBoss.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, and CloudBees.
• Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of both waterfall and Agile delivery models.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex system and application issues.
