Java Developer – Contract (Singapore)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join our team on a contract basis. You will act as the domain knowledge custodian for existing applications, guiding the team on architecture, business logic, and past design decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications using waterfall or Agile methodologies.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues by writing scripts and SQL queries.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and QA engineers to refine requirements, automate tests, and resolve bugs.
• Provide effort estimates for user stories and work units.
• Work with DevOps to set up CI/CD pipelines, continuous integration, and automated releases.
• Create functional specifications, system design documents, and automated unit tests.
• Support production incidents, BAU activities, and cloud or on‑premises deployments.
• Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Coder) and automation to improve code quality and development workflow.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with Java, Spring, REST APIs, UNIX scripting, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with IBM WebSphere Application Server, JBoss, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, CloudBees.
• Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Understanding of both waterfall and Agile delivery models.
