Java Developer

About the role

Fastco is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join its expanding engineering team in Singapore. The ideal candidate has around 5 years of hands-on Java development experience and will design, build and maintain scalable backend systems while helping deliver high-quality products and support the company's growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Java-based applications and backend services.
• Build scalable, reliable and maintainable systems to support business growth.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to deliver product features.
• Write clean, efficient and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, debug problems and improve system performance.
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services.
• Support CI/CD, automated testing and deployment activities.

Required profile

• Around 5 years of Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of core Java, object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, Git and software development lifecycle best practices.
• Strong problem-solving ability, good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Preferred qualifications

• Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Docker, Kubernetes or microservices architecture.
• Caching, messaging systems or distributed systems.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced product or platform environment.
