Junior Computer Software Engineer – Database & Storage

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Computer Software Engineer to join our Database & Storage Infrastructure team in Singapore. The role focuses on building and maintaining large‑scale distributed database and storage platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop computer and network software, as well as utility programs for large‑scale database and storage systems.
• Analyze user and system requirements and create software solutions using computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles.
• Update and enhance existing software, and lead testing and validation procedures for database and storage services.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software components and define performance specifications.
• Build tooling and automation for monitoring, capacity planning, backup, and incident response.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and assist with production incident remediation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, and computer architecture.
• Basic understanding of database concepts such as indexing, transactions, ACID, MVCC, Raft, sharding, CAP theorem and high availability.
• Fluent communication in Mandarin and English to work with regional stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments; experience with MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, HDFS or HBase is a plus.
