Junior Trade Operator

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Trade Operator to support end‑to‑end trade operations for petroleum transactions. This entry‑level position offers exposure to cargo movements, contractual obligations, and coordination across trading, finance and risk teams within a commodities trading environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of physical trades, ensuring smooth cargo scheduling and compliance with contractual terms.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external parties such as terminals, shipping agents, and vessel operators.
• Monitor vessel schedules, laycan windows, and shipping documentation, preparing contracts, invoices, bills of lading and other operational documents.
• Track cargo movements and provide timely updates on shipment status, delays or issues.
• Support trade settlement activities, including invoice verification, cost allocation and expense reconciliation.
• Help resolve operational discrepancies, claims or documentation problems in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc projects, process improvements and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or a related field (preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience in trade, shipping or commodities operations within oil & gas or related trading environments.
• Interest in crude oil operations and a willingness to develop a long‑term career in commodities trading.
• Detail‑oriented, organized and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced setting.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Understanding of shipping documentation and cargo scheduling.
• Familiarity with trade settlement and invoice verification processes.
• Basic knowledge of vessel operations and petroleum product handling.
