Kitchen Assistant (Contract) – Punggol, Singapore

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support food preparation and safety in two school kitchens and a Teacher Preparation Room in Punggol. This contract role offers a structured schedule and the chance to work closely with NFS teachers during culinary sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Be present in the Teacher Preparation Room and both kitchens during working hours.
• Receive, verify, and store food orders from suppliers.
• Prepare ingredients and equipment, including portioning for up to eight classes per session.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Inspect and keep kitchen appliances, utensils, and furniture in good condition.
• Conduct inventory checks and stock‑taking of resources.
• Ensure the tidiness and cleanliness of the preparation room and kitchens.
• Assist teachers during culinary lessons, guiding students on safety and food‑preparation techniques.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by NFS teachers.

Required profile

• Minimum qualification: PSLE.
• Valid WSQ Food Safety Course (FSC) Level 1 Certificate.
• At least 3 years experience as a Food & Consumer Education / Nutrition & Food Science kitchen assistant in a secondary school.
• Basic culinary and mathematical skills.
• Proficient written and spoken English.
• Independent yet able to work well in a team.

Required skills

• Food Safety (WSQ FSC Level 1) certification.
• Basic culinary skills.
• Basic mathematical skills for recipe calculations.

What we offer

• Contract salary SGD 1,800 – 2,200 per month.
• Fixed‑term contract covering three periods between January and November 2027, with a possible one‑year extension.
• Working hours: Mon‑Thu 7:30 am‑3:30 pm, Fri 7:30 am‑12:30 pm; no work on weekends or gazetted holidays.
