Kubernetes Engineer

About the role

Provide frontline triage and resolution for Kubernetes cluster requests across AWS, on‑premises AliCloud and GCP. You will own tickets from intake through resolution in a Slack‑based support channel, escalating to platform engineering only when a confirmed defect or capacity change is required. Based in Singapore, you will cover the APAC cluster estate at its point of origin.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full Kubernetes cluster lifecycle: creation, updates, deletions, node‑pool management and recovery from stuck states.
• Perform version upgrades, diagnose upgrade failures and handle RBAC (ClusterRole/RoleBinding) impacts on node rotation.
• Troubleshoot kubeconfig, kubectl, API server behavior and request throttling.
• Support multi‑cloud environments – AWS (EKS, Karpenter, EC2NodeClass, NLB, ingress‑nginx, Route 53), AliCloud ACK and GCP GKE/GCE – including region‑specific constraints.
• Maintain platform tooling such as cluster manifests, YAML schema validation, deployment error handling and CLI utilities.
• Monitor observability stacks (Prometheus, kube‑state‑metrics, Splunk forwarding) and manage add‑ons like Spinnaker, KEDA, Compass compliance and backup services.
• Ensure cross‑environment DNS resolution, cluster‑to‑database connectivity and resolve load‑balancer reconcile loops.
• Conduct outage triage and author formal root‑cause analyses.

Required profile

• Strong experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production across multiple cloud providers.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex platform issues and produce clear RCA documentation.
