Lab Manager – Environmental Chemistry

About the role

MeChem is seeking an experienced Lab Manager to lead its Environmental Chemistry laboratory. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance, quality, and efficient operations while driving strategic improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with company policies, SAC‑SINGLAS, ISO/IEC 17025, and EHS regulations; support audits and CAPA implementation.
• Oversee daily laboratory operations, sample processing, equipment scheduling, and resource utilization.
• Ensure instruments are calibrated, serviced, and fit for use; coordinate new equipment and method implementation.
• Lead strategic planning, workflow optimisation, and development of new test methods aligned with business needs.
• Supervise and develop laboratory staff, manage recruitment, performance reviews, and training.
• Act as liaison between laboratory teams, management, and clients, providing technical support and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Chemistry, Chemical Process Technology, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant laboratory experience, including method development.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory or team‑lead experience.
• Strong knowledge of SAC‑SINGLAS, ISO/IEC 17025, laboratory quality systems and equipment management.
• Proven audit and CAPA management skills.
• Excellent understanding of laboratory health and safety protocols.
