Lab Manager – Environmental Chemistry

About the role

MeChem is seeking an experienced Lab Manager to lead its Environmental Chemistry laboratory. The role combines compliance oversight, operational management, and team leadership to ensure high‑quality testing and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies, SAC‑SINGLAS requirements, ISO/IEC 17025 standards and EHS regulations, supporting audits and CAPA implementation.
• Manage daily laboratory operations, including sample processing, equipment scheduling, housekeeping and resource utilization.
• Oversee instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and the introduction of new equipment and test methods.
• Lead strategic planning, workflow optimisation and the development of new work areas aligned with business needs.
• Supervise staff, handle recruitment, performance evaluation, training and manpower planning.
• Act as liaison between laboratory teams, management and clients, communicating results and providing technical support.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Chemistry, Chemical Process Technology, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of laboratory experience with 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience with audits, CAPA management and method‑related tasks.
• Strong multitasking ability and thorough knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols.
