Laboratory Technician - Biology

About the role

The school is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to support biology practical sessions for secondary students. Working under the Vice‑Principal, you will ensure that labs are fully prepared, safe, and functional for daily teaching activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organise all materials, equipment and chemicals for biology practical lessons.
• Clean, tidy and store equipment after each session, handling any chemical waste safely.
• Maintain inventory records, identify broken or expired items, and perform minor repairs.
• Assist the Laboratory Manager with purchasing: request quotes, verify deliveries and buy consumables.
• Enforce laboratory safety rules and support educational projects.
• Develop and update worksheets and practical guides for teachers.
• Ensure the laboratory and workbenches remain clean and orderly.
• Be present one week after the school year ends and one week before it starts, working weekdays from 7:30 AM.

Required profile

• Polytechnic Diploma in Biology (or related field) with significant practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of biology; geology knowledge is a plus.
• Previous laboratory experience is appreciated.
• Good command of English and ability to communicate in French.
• Meticulous, organised, autonomous and able to take initiative.
• Capable of working accurately and methodically within a team.
