Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Edge Systems Architecture

About the role

Nanyang Polytechnic is looking for a dynamic Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to lead teaching and curriculum development in Edge Systems Architecture within the School of Engineering. The role combines classroom instruction, hands‑on laboratory work, and industry engagement to prepare students for the fast‑evolving edge computing landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver industry‑relevant modules covering edge computing, IoT architectures, distributed systems, cloud‑edge integration and embedded systems.
• Run practical labs, projects and assessments that develop students’ skills in deploying and managing edge solutions.
• Mentor student projects, internships and final‑year theses, providing technical guidance and innovation support.
• Collaborate with industry partners to incorporate emerging trends and real‑world case studies into the curriculum.
• Participate in curriculum review, departmental initiatives, outreach programmes and faculty development activities.
• Conduct applied research or consultancy projects that enhance professional growth and contribute to the polytechnic’s knowledge base.

Required profile

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience for Lecturer level or 5 + years for Senior Lecturer, focused on edge computing, IoT or distributed architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to teach or train at the tertiary level, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for education and commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers.

Required skills

• Edge computing and IoT architecture design.
• Edge AI, real‑time data processing and edge device management.
• Containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Cloud platforms: AWS IoT, Azure IoT Edge, Google Cloud IoT.
• Programming languages: Python, C, C++, Go, Java, JavaScript.
• Knowledge of network protocols and distributed systems.
