Legal Counsel

About the role

Huawei is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support across commercial, regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters. The role will serve business units in Singapore and the wider region, ensuring legal alignment with company objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate legal documents and contracts.
• Provide regulatory and compliance advice, including on the Resource Sustainability Act, Personal Data Protection Act, and Cybersecurity Act.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to develop and implement local legal policies.
• Advise on ethical marketing, competition law, IP protection, trade secrets, and confidential information.
• Manage disputes, litigation, and external counsel relationships.
• Engage with authorities and regulators in Singapore and other operating jurisdictions.
• Deliver legal updates and training to management and business units.
• Handle ad‑hoc legal matters as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB/JD) or equivalent qualification.
• 5–7 years post‑qualification experience as a legal counsel, preferably in ICT, technology, or telecommunications.
• Qualified to practice law in Singapore, the UK, the US, Australia, another common‑law jurisdiction, or the People’s Republic of China.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) for effective collaboration with headquarters.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
