Level 3 System Engineer - Infrastructure

About the role

Logicalis Asia Pacific is hiring a Level 3 System Engineer to provide advanced technical support, troubleshooting, administration and engineering of enterprise server, virtualisation, storage, backup and compute infrastructure. The role acts as the Level 3 escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents, gives technical leadership to L1/L2 teams and works with network, security, application, vendor and regional infrastructure teams. It also supports projects such as technology refreshes, migrations, upgrades, patching, capacity management, disaster recovery and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• L3 infrastructure support: troubleshoot complex server, virtualisation, storage, backup and compute issues, perform root cause analysis and mentor L1/L2 engineers.
• VMware: administer vSphere, ESXi and vCenter, support clusters, HA, DRS, vMotion and virtual networking, plan capacity and take part in upgrades and migrations.
• Cisco UCS: manage and troubleshoot UCS Manager, fabric interconnects, chassis, blades and service profiles, and work with Cisco TAC.
• NetApp storage: manage storage, volumes, LUNs and aggregates, monitor capacity and performance, and work with NetApp support.
• Backup and recovery: administer Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication, monitor jobs and support recovery and DR activities.
• Disaster recovery: support DR infrastructure, take part in DR exercises, validate backups and maintain runbooks.
• Server and OS support: support physical and virtual servers, Windows Server, patching, upgrades and decommissioning.
• Patching and upgrades: plan and execute changes, coordinate with owners, and follow change management procedures.
• Incident and problem management: own major incidents, run technical bridge calls, write RCA reports and maintain knowledge articles.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5-8+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure/system engineering.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise or multi-site environments and with ITIL incident, problem and change management.
• On-call and after-hours support, including major incident management; occasional travel to data centres may be required.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
• Hands-on experience with Cisco UCS and good experience with NetApp storage.
• Strong experience with NetBackup and/or Veeam.
• Advantageous: VMware VCP, Cisco, NetApp, Veeam or other infrastructure certifications.
