Linux Administrator – Unix & VMware Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mid‑Senior Linux Administrator to join our infrastructure operations team. The role focuses on managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and VMware vSphere environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across production and non‑production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers in both production and test environments.
• Administer VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter clusters, resource pools, and virtual networking.
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and tune both Linux and VMware platforms.
• Apply security hardening, patching, and compliance standards such as CIS and STIG.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, OS, virtualization, networking, and storage issues.
• Manage storage – LVM, SAN/NAS, disk partitioning, volume expansions, and mount‑point restructuring.
• Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, Perl, or Ansible.
• Maintain backup, snapshot, and disaster‑recovery procedures for Linux and virtual environments.
• Collaborate with application, database, and DevOps teams for deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
• Document architecture, configurations, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Unix/Linux system administration.
• At least 3 years of experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS).
• Experience with SAN/NAS storage and backup solutions.
• Familiarity with ITIL change‑management processes.
