Machine Learning Engineer – Search E-commerce

About the role

ByteDance is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join its Search E‑Commerce team. You will help build and enhance a large‑scale, multi‑modal search engine that serves over a billion monthly users worldwide, focusing on improving product discoverability and shopping conversion.

Key responsibilities

• Improve basic search quality by optimizing query analysis, text relevance matching, and multi‑modal product video understanding.
• Design and implement end‑to‑end ranking pipelines, including recall, first‑stage ranking, final‑stage ranking, and mixed‑row strategies.
• Develop personalized shopping interest models to boost conversion efficiency across merchandise, video, and live‑stream content.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance the overall shopping experience from browsing to after‑sales support.
