Machine Learning Engineer – Speech/Audio

About the role

Plaud is building the next‑generation AI interface that captures and structures intelligence from speech and audio. As a Machine Learning Engineer you will own large‑scale speech/audio pipelines and help improve recognition accuracy for diverse languages and industry‑specific terms.

Key responsibilities

• Own large‑scale speech/audio data pipelines, including collection, cleaning, labeling, augmentation and quality control.
• Partner with senior speech engineers on hot‑word mining and domain‑adaptation strategies.
• Support model training, fine‑tuning and evaluation of speech/LLM models, focusing on code‑switching, names and product terms.
• Build test sets and evaluation frameworks, benchmark internal models against open‑source and commercial baselines.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience in speech, machine learning or large‑scale data engineering.
• Experience in at least one of: ASR/SpeechLLM model training, LLM/ML model fine‑tuning, or large‑scale audio/video/text pipeline work.
• Solid Python and PyTorch fundamentals.
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark or Ray.
