Managing Director – Singapore & Southeast Asia COO

About the role

The Singapore & Southeast Asia COO is a senior leadership position within BlackRock’s Asia Pacific COO function. The role is responsible for driving business strategy, operational excellence, and governance across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Reporting to the Deputy Head of APAC with a matrix line to the APAC COO, the incumbent partners with regional business leaders to translate strategic priorities into execution while ensuring integrity and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Singapore and SEA business leaders and APAC senior management to define and execute regional strategic priorities, including new growth initiatives and strategic investments.
• Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across SEA markets, turning insights into actionable plans with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.
• Lead large‑scale, cross‑functional strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment across business units and corporate functions.
• Maintain an informed view of the evolving digital, FinTech and WealthTech landscape in SEA and advise on strategic partnerships.
• Serve as a connector across internal functions (Finance, HR, Risk, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Corporate Communications) and external stakeholders to advance regional priorities.
• Manage local governance committees, ensuring agenda quality, appropriate materials and actionable outcomes.
• Oversee financial performance management in partnership with Finance, monitoring revenues, expenses and headcount against budget and forecast.
• Collaborate with Technology & Enterprise Services on facilities management and enterprise services delivery.

Required profile

• Seasoned senior leader with deep knowledge of the Southeast Asian financial services landscape.
• Proven track record delivering results in complex, matrixed organisations.
• Ability to shape strategy with senior leadership while ensuring rigorous day‑to‑day execution and risk management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing internal and external partners.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey strategic priorities clearly at all organisational levels.
