Materials Project Manager – B2

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The Materials Project Manager (B2) will support product development and commercialization by managing material requirements, supplier relationships, and cost targets. This role works closely with engineering, planning, and production teams to ensure timely delivery of critical components.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast and communicate engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers.
• Perform make‑versus‑buy analysis and support outsourcing decisions.
• Coordinate demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
• Participate in the Materials Core Team and manage product development deliverables.
• Develop and maintain material strategies, commercialization plans, and change‑control processes.
• Negotiate supplier price and delivery terms, and conduct risk assessments on critical parts.
• Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost) and generate key process indicators.
• Assist engineering in identifying long‑lead and inspection‑critical parts and perform value analysis for cost reduction.

Required profile

• Demonstrated conceptual knowledge in materials engineering and supply‑chain processes.
• Understanding of key business drivers and ability to meet cost and quality objectives.
• Informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory responsibilities.
• Problem‑solving skills for straightforward technical issues using judgment and precedent.
• Impact on team quality through adherence to guidelines and policies.
• Ability to explain complex information clearly to stakeholders.
