Materials Project Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Materials Project Manager to lead forecasting, sourcing and material change control for semiconductor and display manufacturing. You will work closely with engineering, planning and supplier teams to ensure material availability while minimizing cost and inventory exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast and communicate engineering, materials and manufacturing requirements to suppliers.
• Perform make‑versus‑buy analysis and provide input to outsourcing decisions.
• Coordinate demand signals through MRP to reduce inventory exposure.
• Lead the Materials Core Team, managing product development deliverables across buyers, planners and production control.
• Negotiate supplier price, delivery and contracts, and conduct supplier risk assessments.
• Manage the materials change‑control process, monitor supplier performance and generate key process indicators.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in materials engineering and related disciplines.
• Knowledge of best practices and how materials functions integrate with other business areas.
• Ability to lead small projects and act as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, able to analyze complex information and make sound judgments.
