Materials Project Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Materials Project Manager to lead purchasing activities and manage complex supplier relationships for its Singapore operations. The role will ensure inventory levels are maintained, resolve material‑related issues, and drive cost‑reduction initiatives across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to keep inventory at planned levels.
• Resolve material‑related accounting and receiving problems quickly and effectively.
• Manage complex supplier relationships, including multi‑tier supply chains and strategic suppliers exceeding $10 M.
• Oversee transitions for new products, new suppliers, part obsolescence, and related cost negotiations.
• Negotiate pricing, cost‑of‑goods‑sold reductions, liability exposure, and expedite/rework charges.
• Drive lead‑time reduction and collaborate with inventory control teams.
• Define and improve business processes, participating in ISO documentation for procurement.
• Supervise purchasing team activities, distribute workload, and train junior buyers.
