Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development and modification of mechanical systems used in semiconductor and advanced display equipment. The role involves creating tooling, handling processes and ensuring components are manufactured and assembled to industry standards throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design or modify basic mechanical layouts, schematics and specifications under supervision.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying sources for critical parts.
• Perform engineering test reports and generate documentation for product releases.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and apply engineering processes to resolve issues.
• Develop custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes.
• Enable handling, assembly and disassembly of parts and sub‑assemblies throughout the product life cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Familiarity with basic mechanical engineering theories and concepts.

Required skills

• Understanding of thermodynamics.
• Sheet metal design expertise.
• Material selection knowledge.
• Manufacturing methods experience.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Flow analysis capability.
• Design for Excellence principles.
