Mechanical Engineer – Scientific Instruments

About the role

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific’s engineering team in Singapore to design and develop cutting‑edge scientific instruments and laboratory equipment. You will work on complex mechanical systems, collaborating across functions to bring innovative solutions to market.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise mechanical components for sophisticated scientific instruments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure manufacturability, reliability and compliance with quality standards.
• Drive product innovation from concept through production using advanced CAD tools.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses and design validation.
• Develop test plans, conduct verification and validation activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience in a technical product development environment.
• Professional certifications are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with quality systems and regulatory requirements (ISO, UL, CE, FDA).
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software: SolidWorks, CREO or NX.
• Experience using PLM/PDM systems.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Design of parts using metals, plastics and composites.
• Microsoft Office suite.
