Medical Laboratory Technologist

About the role

We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Technologist to manage specimen reception, preparation and packing, perform laboratory analyses, and uphold quality control standards within our diagnostic laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, and pack specimens for analysis.
• Assist with telephone reception and ensure accurate patient billing.
• Conduct specimen analysis, operate and maintain laboratory analysers, and validate results.
• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues, escalating more complex problems as needed.
• Perform quality control activities (e.g., Westgard rules, EQA) and verify QC results.
• Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Supervise and guide junior staff members.
• Revise existing SOPs or draft new ones.

Required profile

• Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts covering mornings, afternoons, and nights.

Required skills

• Operation and troubleshooting of laboratory analysers.
• Quality control expertise (Westgard rules, EQA programs).
• Validation and interpretation of test results.
• Development and revision of standard operating procedures.
