Metrology Technician

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring a Metrology Technician in Singapore. The role involves dimensional inspection of parts with precision measurement tools, verifying part accuracy and supporting quality and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections of parts using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and CMMs.
• Verify the accuracy of manufactured parts and ensure inspection methods are followed correctly.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and sketches, and adapt measurement devices and procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.
• Populate standard reports with test results and document quality issues accurately.
• Conduct intermediate-level problem solving to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
• Assist in defining audit methods, sequences and procedures for inspections and perform basic audits.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders about priorities, inspection results and quality concerns.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or another relevant qualification.
• Experience in metrology is highly preferred.
• Able to work shifts Monday to Friday, including the 2nd shift (4:00 PM to 1:30 AM); flexibility between shifts is essential.
• Full-time position; travel of about 10% of the time; relocation not eligible.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of GD&T concepts.
• Ability to interpret internationally accepted units of measurement.
• Observation skills to ensure measurement devices are used effectively.
• Good communication and logical thinking skills.
