Mobile Software Engineer Intern

About the role

Columns is looking for a Mobile Software Engineer Intern to join its product team in Singapore. You will work on the company’s mobile app that records sales conversations, generates transcripts, and creates structured meeting notes. The internship is paid, hybrid and lasts 3 to 6 months with a flexible start date.

Key responsibilities

• Build and improve features in the mobile application.
• Enhance recording reliability across real‑world usage conditions.
• Debug backgrounding issues, flaky networks, upload failures and app lifecycle events.
• Implement robust audio upload flows with retry logic, progress indicators and error recovery.
• Integrate with backend APIs for transcription, summarisation and note generation.
• Optimise app performance, loading states, navigation and overall user experience.
• Test mobile flows on real devices and simulators and maintain code quality before release.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience building software through coursework, internships, open‑source contributions or personal projects.
• Strong interest in mobile app development and product engineering.
• Ability to debug technical problems carefully and communicate findings clearly.
• Willingness to learn quickly, test assumptions and ship working software.
• Comfort using modern AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as part of the development workflow.
