Mobile Software Engineer – Messaging Team

About the role

Join TikTok's Messaging team to build the next generation of mobile chat experiences. You will work on core features that help users connect, share, and create directly from their smartphones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and iterate client‑side (Android & iOS) features for TikTok Messaging, including chatrooms, stickers, and Streak social‑interaction tools.
• Design and optimize real‑time Voice & Video Call capabilities and the client‑side IM infrastructure (IMSDK, on‑device data management) for a smooth, reliable messaging experience.
• Explore AI‑powered engineering efficiency by building AI skills, knowledge bases, and AI agents that assist daily development and collaboration workflows, improving iteration speed and code quality across iOS and Android.
• Continuously improve client performance, stability, package size, and resource consumption to enhance overall user experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong logical analysis, system abstraction abilities, and the capacity to debug large, complex codebases.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools and a solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
• Experience with at least one mobile development stack (iOS: Objective‑C/Swift; Android: Kotlin/Java) and familiarity with the corresponding platform frameworks.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for building consumer‑facing products.
