About the role

Join the Future Resilient Internet Exchange (FIREx) team to design and implement scalable traffic‑forwarding solutions for DDoS mitigation. You will work on automated GRE tunneling, BGP routing policies, and token‑based APIs that connect customers to scrubbing centres.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a standard for clean‑traffic forwarding using automated GRE tunnels between customer edge routers and provider scrubbing centres.
• Provision tunnels, generate routing policies, and establish dynamic BGP sessions over GRE for traffic diversion during attacks.
• Design traffic‑steering and fail‑over logic using policy‑based routing, BGP community tagging, and health‑check mechanisms.
• Implement security controls such as ACLs, uRPF, MTU/MSS tuning, and flow validation (NetFlow/sFlow) to prevent tunnel abuse.
• Develop a secure token‑based API framework (OAuth2/JWT) for customers to push mitigation policies and pull real‑time telemetry.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor, Master or PhD program at a Singapore university for the duration of the internship.
• Basic knowledge of internetworking concepts, especially IP and BGP.
• Willingness and ability to communicate efficiently with industry partners and regional internet registries.
• Knowledge of Solidity (Ethereum) and Go is a plus.
