Operational Buyer

About the role

The Operational Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials to support Continuous Improvement Projects, Customer Specific Requirements, and New Product Introductions. The role focuses on achieving the lowest cost, shortest lead time, on‑time delivery, and required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Request, analyse and negotiate quotations based on cost, lead time and landed cost.
• Order and dispose of material for NPIs using SAP, issuing purchase orders and ensuring timely availability.
• Collaborate closely with local planning, global Strategic Supply Management and operational purchasing teams in Asia.
• Manage supplier corrective actions, evaluate alternatives and support engineering change requests.
• Prepare analyses and statistics to support sourcing strategy and strategic planning.
• Control invoices, verify price deviations and negotiate contracts with product‑related and non‑product suppliers.
• Maintain accurate vendor data, contracts and purchasing parameters.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in global sourcing and supplier qualification.
• Proven experience with supplier auditing and corrective‑action processes.
• Strong understanding of supply‑chain dynamics and critical production processes.
• Excellent negotiation abilities and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• SAP / R3 ERP system.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
