Primary EAL Teacher – Early Years Specialist

About the role

UWCSEA East Campus is looking for a qualified Primary English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher to join its growing Primary School EAL programme from August 2026. The role involves delivering EAL instruction across Kindergarten 1 to Grade 5 and shaping the programme to meet the needs of English language learners.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop an effective EAL programme that supports learners in accessing the five elements of UWCSEA’s Learning Programme.
• Collaborate with Heads of Grade and the Primary EAL Coordinator to align policies and achieve programme goals.
• Plan and deliver whole‑class, team‑teaching, small‑group and individual lessons, integrating technology where appropriate.
• Monitor, assess and track learner progress using data‑informed approaches and standardised assessments.
• Advise on placement decisions, coordinate assessments and recommend appropriate provision.
• Provide differentiated support, promote wellbeing and foster an inclusive culture for diverse learners.
• Maintain accurate records, attend relevant meetings and communicate regularly with teachers, parents and senior staff.
• Participate in professional learning and assist the EAL Coordinator in delivering training to colleagues.

Required profile

• Relevant degree and recognized teaching qualification.
• Minimum five years of teaching experience, preferably including early‑years experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in teaching English as an Additional Language across primary grades.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators and support staff.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and supporting neurodiverse and culturally diverse learners.
