Principal Android Engineer

About the role

Dyson is seeking a Principal Android Engineer to lead the technical vision of the MyDyson™ app, a core component of its IoT ecosystem with millions of active users. You will work within a global team, shaping architecture, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across cloud, embedded, and IT domains.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate the architectural roadmap for the MyDyson Android application.
• Collaborate with cloud, embedded software, and IT architects to design integrated systems.
• Support development teams on complex features and act as the technical spokesperson in stakeholder discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering skill growth and best‑practice adoption.
• Identify technical risks early and drive mitigation strategies.
• Champion the adoption of new tools and technologies to elevate code quality and team standards.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience building and scaling global Android applications.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and set product‑level direction.
• Hands‑on coding expertise combined with a strategic mindset.
• Strong collaboration skills across engineering, product, and leadership teams.
• Commitment to Agile principles and delivering robust, scalable software.
