Principal Buyer - Capital Equipment Procurement

About the role

Micron Technology is hiring a Principal Buyer within its Capital Equipment Procurement organization. You will lead strategic supplier and category management initiatives that support Micron's global technology development and manufacturing roadmap, driving total cost competitiveness, supply assurance, supplier innovation and long-term strategic partnerships across key capital equipment categories. The role works closely with Technology Development, Global Operations, Facilities, Manufacturing and Executive Leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement global category strategies for assigned capital equipment suppliers and technologies, and partner with internal teams to align sourcing with business, technology and capacity roadmaps.
• Lead supplier segmentation, supplier governance and executive engagement strategies, and drive long-term supply assurance and capacity planning.
• Lead complex commercial negotiations on pricing, capacity commitments, efficiency improvements and technology development agreements, applying should-cost methodologies and benchmarking to deliver Total Delivered Cost Improvement (TDCI).
• Build executive-level supplier relationships, influence supplier roadmaps and drive supplier performance improvement in cost, quality, delivery, innovation and risk.
• Use AI-powered tools, predictive analytics and automation to improve sourcing efficiency, supplier intelligence and decision quality, and champion responsible AI adoption in procurement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Finance or a related field.
• 10+ years of procurement, supply chain, category management, capital equipment, engineering or semiconductor industry experience.
• Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and strategic supplier relationships.
• Strong analytical, financial and collaborator management skills, and the ability to influence across organizational and geographical boundaries.

Preferred qualifications

• Semiconductor capital equipment experience.
• Experience supporting Technology Development or advanced node programs.
• Knowledge of supplier cost structures and should-cost methodologies.
• Experience engaging supplier executives and leading global sourcing strategies.
