Principal Data Engineer

About the role

Firmus Technologies is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to own and evolve the company‑wide data architecture. You will set standards, choose technologies, and build the core data platform that powers real‑time telemetry, AI models, and customer‑facing reporting across our AI‑focused infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the end‑to‑end data architecture, including build‑versus‑buy, storage topology, and streaming‑versus‑batch strategies.
• Design, implement, and operate real‑time and batch data pipelines that ingest GPU telemetry, cooling sensor data, billing, and incident streams.
• Build and manage the storage, transformation, and semantic layers that serve BI tools, internal analytics, and external reporting.
• Collaborate with data and platform engineers to ensure reliability, schema evolution, and latency Service Level Agreements.
• Deploy data components as infrastructure‑as‑code on self‑hosted, bare‑metal Kubernetes clusters, overseeing deployment quality and storage cost.

Required profile

• Senior technical leader with a proven track record in large‑scale data platform design.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating complex data pipelines in AI or GPU‑intensive environments.
• Ability to make long‑term architectural decisions and influence cross‑functional engineering teams.
