Principal Developer, Platforms (Digital Shopfront)

About the role

The team is reimagining its digital services by turning OneMotoring into an intelligent Digital Shopfront powered by AI, which augments how digital services are designed, delivered and experienced. As Principal Developer, Platforms, you will build the capabilities that let the team co-develop solutions with vendors, set the engineering standard across the platform and keep it reliable after go-live.

Key responsibilities

• Build the platform core: develop the internal tooling, integration middleware and shared services that connect the Digital Shopfront to the wider ecosystem, and turn architecture and designs into working software.
• Lead platform reliability: design and oversee CI/CD pipelines, container infrastructure and the observability stack, deploying logging, metrics and alerting to resolve issues quickly.
• Review vendor code: review pull requests, architecture decisions and test coverage, and guide improvements in quality, security and maintainability.
• Apply AI where it fits: build practical AI capabilities, including production-ready prompt pipelines and structured outputs.
• Design for scale and security: make infrastructure decisions on LLM token management, caching, database performance, rate limiting and performance optimisation.
• Champion technical investment: argue for prioritising technical debt and help stakeholders understand the value of solid foundations.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience as a senior or principal engineer, with a track record of building and operating production systems.
• Full-stack development in Python alongside a modern frontend framework, owning a system from design to deployment.
• Experience integrating hybrid and legacy systems, and leading middleware and API design.
• Experience leading application security management, compliance and threat assessment in a zero-trust approach.
• Understanding of AI in production, including LLM integration into embedded software.
• Prior experience in the Singapore public sector or highly regulated environments, and familiarity with enterprise platform delivery at scale, is an advantage.
