Principal GeoSpatial/Geomatics Consultant, Tech Innovation & Partnerships

About the role

This role drives the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative solutions for underground mapping and infrastructure data management. It builds strategic partnerships with government agencies, industry and academia to develop and test new technologies, advance data fusion and interoperability, and strengthen Singapore's underground mapping ecosystem. It also contributes to the SpatialX Community of Practice, which fosters knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Underground mapping technology: research, evaluate and track emerging technologies such as advanced sensing, positioning, 3D mapping, robotics, AI and data analytics, and run pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives to validate solutions locally.
• Strategic partnerships: establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies, technology providers, industry players, higher education institutions and research bodies, and explore international collaborations.
• Data fusion and interoperability: lead initiatives to harmonise data across diverse underground datasets and develop data models, standards, workflows and frameworks that support interoperable infrastructure data.
• SpatialX Community of Practice: organise technical exchanges, learning journeys and showcases, and connect practitioners, researchers and agencies to share best practices.

Required profile

• Qualification in Geomatics, Surveying, Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline; other disciplines may be considered.
• Experience or strong interest in underground mapping, geospatial technologies, infrastructure data management or related fields.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn findings into practical applications.
• Good stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills across government, industry and academia.
• Strong project management skills, including coordinating pilots and managing deliverables.
• Good communication and presentation skills, able to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required skills

• Familiarity with emerging mapping technologies (3D spatial data, GIS, BIM, data integration) or interoperability concepts is an advantage.
