Principal Pharmacist, Retail and Pricing

About the role

The Principal Pharmacist, Retail and Pricing will lead the retail pharmacy operations at the upcoming Tengah General and Community Hospital. This senior position combines oversight of daily retail activities, staff development, and pricing strategy to ensure high‑quality service and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate Retail Assistants’ productivity in stocking, merchandising, housekeeping, customer enquiries and cashiering.
• Handle customer enquiries for specific products and act on feedback to improve service.
• Maintain pharmacy stock condition, monitor expiry dates and minimise wastage.
• Track financial and service performance of retail operations and report outcomes to the Head of Department.
• Design and deliver skill‑development programmes for retail staff covering product knowledge, merchandising and customer service.
• Strategise retail pharmacy expansion, review product range and identify revenue‑enhancing opportunities.
• Collaborate with the ALPS purchasing team on central warehousing, contracts, licensing and manpower negotiations.
• Set up pricing structures, decide on margins and mark‑ups, and continuously optimise pricing models.

Required profile

• Qualified pharmacist with extensive experience in retail pharmacy management.
• Proven leadership ability to evaluate performance, coach staff and drive operational improvements.
• Strong analytical skills to monitor financial results and implement pricing strategies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to liaise with outpatient pharmacy staff and purchasing teams.
