Principal Scientific Data Officer – QA/QC & Audit

About the role

The Principal Scientific Data Officer will lead the development and implementation of data quality standards, tracking and auditability across a multidisciplinary seismic research programme at Nanyang Technological University.

Key responsibilities

• Establish programme-wide data protocols and procedures for a comprehensive, auditable database of all finalized research information.
• Develop and maintain version‑controlled data tracking, documentation and audit trails to support future ISO certification.
• Collaborate with research teams to populate and maintain the database as new results are produced.
• Perform regular internal data audits to ensure compliance with established protocols.
• Prepare reproducible data subsets for technical reporting, publications and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Civil/Earthquake Engineering or related field.
• Formal training in data management, statistics, informatics or related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in scientific data management, QA/QC or data auditing, with the last 5 years in senior or leadership roles.
• Proven leadership in developing and implementing quality systems and governance frameworks for large, multidisciplinary research programmes.
• Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities to work independently with research teams and external auditors.
