Product Director, Issuing

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is looking for a Product Director, Issuing to lead its global Card Issuing product strategy. The role turns complex card infrastructure and regulatory requirements into simple, scalable products for businesses, platforms and marketplaces. It is based in the Singapore office with an in-office working pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Own the global Card Issuing product strategy, solution design, technical roadmap and go-to-market execution across enterprise platforms, marketplaces and corporate spend use cases.
• Lead the vision for a global card issuance platform covering virtual and physical cards, digital wallet provisioning, spend controls, fraud prevention and real-time transaction processing.
• Build developer-first APIs, webhooks and embedded SDKs or iframes, balancing platform scalability, developer experience and commercial priorities.
• Partner with card schemes, banking partners, BIN sponsors, card manufacturers and cross-functional teams to expand global issuing coverage and navigate regulatory requirements.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of Product Managers, and act as the company-wide subject matter expert on card issuing and embedded finance.
• Own key product metrics such as card transaction volume, interchange yield, API reliability and latency, activation rates and programme unit economics.

Required profile

• 10+ years in Product Management, Technical Product Management or Software Engineering, with card issuing, payment processing or embedded finance experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience building and scaling developer-facing products and leading teams in a fast-moving, multicultural, distributed environment.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of card issuing architecture: Visa or Mastercard schemes, BIN sponsorship, card production, transaction authorisation, clearing and settlement, 3D Secure, tokenisation and PCI-DSS compliance.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, webhooks and SDKs, and distributed, high-availability transaction systems.
• Commercial acumen, including interchange modelling and global regulatory navigation.
• Data-driven, first-principles approach to product roadmaps.

Preferred: programmatic card creation, real-time transaction processing, wallet integrations (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and experience with Visa, Mastercard, BIN sponsors and card manufacturers.
