Project Officer – Hardware Development for Insect‑Robot Systems

About the role
The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU is seeking a Project Officer to lead the development of insect‑computer hybrid robot control systems. You will design, fabricate, and test wireless sensor‑backpacks that can stimulate and monitor living insects.
Key responsibilities
- Design and fabricate wirelessly controlled sensor‑backpacks for living insects.
- Develop firmware, algorithms, data structures and user interfaces for remote control.
- Integrate custom algorithms into hybrid robot operation and conduct performance testing.
- Prepare technical documentation and present results.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical & Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience in PCB design and fabrication.
- Experience in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Experience in real‑time operating system development.
- Familiarity with wireless communication technologies (BLE, Sub‑GHz, UWB) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of insect anatomy and physiology is a plus.
